Morose - Second City Sin

Second City Sin are taking the Midlands by storm with their live performances and new singles. Formed at the beginning of 2024, this high energy rock band have achieved incredible milestones with their music releases and building their community. Their live performance journey started in May of that year at The Flapper in Birmingham and since then, they have played multiple live shows in the local area supporting many bands and even playing some shows for BIMM live auditions. Under a year later on the 8th March 2025, the band play their first headline gig at the O2 Institute 3 in Birmingham. Their aim for any live show was to "honour their influences whilst delivering energetic sound and performances" and they did just that. I had the pleasure of meeting the band whilst supporting them on their headline gig and they were simply incredible. Their electrifying performance passed from the stage through to the crowd and put on a truly amazing show. Their lead singer was unfortunately suffering with illness that weekend, but the show still went on and they smashed everyone out of the ballpark. The whole band’s determination towards that performance was impeccable and you could see on stage how connected the band was and that they had nothing but positive energy towards each other and their music.

The band currently have two singles released on Spotify. Their first release 'Under The Landslide' has surpassed four thousand streams since its release on 27th September 2024. This song has incredibly high energy and has the feel of an old school banger. Even though this single carries a lot of older elements, it still brings a breath of fresh air to the sound and captures the spirit of the band well in just under four minutes.

Their newest single ‘Morose’ was released on Valentines Day of this year and has now surpassed over a thousand streams. This new song shows the band’s “heavier, darker and grittier side” which shows how diverse their music can be. Released independently, the band also have a lyric video to accompany this amazing track which is available now! Whether it was intentional or not, the band’s use of roses for their Valentines Day release is a cool nod to the day of their single becoming available to stream. In comparison to their debut single, the song really takes you on a journey and makes you feel immersed in the world of Second City Sin.

‘Morose’ is a great addition to the band’s small catalogue of music and makes the listener want more. Personally, I have been listening to this track none stop, and I get lost in the world it transports me into. I can’t wait for the next single to be released as it will be an instant pre-save!

Second City Sin have some exciting live performances coming up where you can watch them play their amazing original songs. On Friday 30th May, they headline The Dark Horse in Birmingham with support from Fuel Injection, Silvers and Stress.
